Let's Craft and Create with a sketch

Good morning,

After a lengthy absence due to holiday and very erratic internet connection, I would like to showcase my card for this month's challenge at Let's Craft and Create with the theme use a sketch....any sketch.

The sketch that I used is from   The Outlawz Wednesday challenge

This is my card and my take on the sketch.

I used a green cardstock and onto this I matted cream card that I had embossed with a very old cuttlebug folder.

The ovals were cut with a Nellie Snellen MFD

The butterfly and the other elements are from  Kaiser Craft ...."Provincial" sticker sheet

No colouring to do as I am having a bit of a problem with colouring.

Please do go and see  the projects that the other teamies have made for inspiration and be sure to enter before 30th November to stand a chance to win the prize.

Thanks for visiting and hope to see you soon. Take care.

Good morning all,
I haven't been blogging much the last while, life just seem to happen with some challenges, but hopefully I will get to be on here a little more now.
In South Africa we are having a public holiday today. August is women's month and today we are celebrating Woman's day in aid of all the wonderful women who have contributed to making changes in this country.

This week at The Outlawz  it was my turn to choose the colours and twist for the Colour challenge.

Our sponsor for the month is Fred She Said. They have some lovely precoloured images as well and these I really love at the moment.. The prize is a $10 gift certificate, so I do hope you will come and join us this week.

The two colours from the picture I added are ochre and green.

I used an ochre coloured card, embossed it and brushed it with distress ink

The image was cut out with a Nellie Snellen MFD and then I used a green card to cut the frame using the sane set of Nellies dies.

The sentiment is a Whiff of Joy stamp..very old, cut with a label die and attached with brads.

Summer fun

Hello friends,
Today is a Tuesday which means a new Colour challenge at The Outlawz. We have a super tic-tac-toe board made up for us by Cara and the DT have made some really great projects, so do come along and join in this week.

Our sponsor this month is Mari Digis

I was happy to make a summery card this week as we have been having some really cold winter weather and the thought of a lovely summery day at the beach was very enticing.

I used the centre row across on the tic-tac-toe board.

For the texture on my card I used paste with a Memory box stencil. When the paste was dry I went over it with yellow Distress ink and then glitter for the sun's rays.

The image is a very old Lily of the Valley stamp. Not sure if they are still around, and I coloured it with Pan Pastels and cut out with a Nellie's die.

The sentiment is from a page of KaiserCraft ..Sandy toes collection..all holiday sentiments .. I added a touch of glitter to the words and also used a Nellies die to cut it out.

Finished off with a wooden sun embellishment and pearls.

I will be entering some challenges,

Cards in Envy .... On the beach
Crafty Cardmakers #216...Holidays/Vacations
Dream Valley Challenge #182...All things bright and beautiful
Stamps and Fun  #329 ...Anything goes
Use your Stuff #322 ...Anything goes (with a sentiment of Title)

Thanks for visiting and I hope you have some fun in the sun wherever you may be. Take care.

Red, white and blue

Hello everyone,
We are starting a new month and so a new challenge at Let's Craft and Create.
As usual it is an Anything goes, but the option is to use red, white and blue, which is quite appropriate at this time of the year.
I hope everyone in the USA had a great 4th July and enjoyed the time with family and friends.

The DT all made such great cards, so please do hop over and see what there is for inspiration. There is also a lovely Gift Certificate up for grabs...so come along and join us. You have until 31 July to enter so lots of time.

I went quite simple with my card and it could be used for many events.

The patterned papers are all from my stash

I used the following dies to cut the various shapes.

The wavy shape is a Nellie Snellen edging die,

The small stars hanging from it are a Marianne Design Craftable die. It is a banner with the stars hanging and I just cut them off and attached to the shaped diecut.

The large star is also a Nellie Snellen die and I used a Just Right stamp on it. Added the peelof stars and a bow to finish

Will be entering the following challenges:

Crafty Creations #369...Anything goes
Crafty Gals Corner  #169...Red, white blue
Simon Says Wednesday challenge...  Red, white blue
Cards in Envy...Twinkle little stars

Punch it at Let's Craft and Create

Good morning on a chilly but sunny winter morning.

This week over at Let's Craft and Create there is a new challenge with an option to use your favourite punch. Please do visit to see the lovely cards made by the DT and by entering there is even a prize for a lucky entrant

For my card I used a pink cardstock and here I used my most favourite corner punch. I think it will soon protest, but as it is still going I love using it.

I also used a heart punch for the larger hearts in my pocket...which is actually a stamp ..(unnamed) onto patterned paper, and  cut  out. I added a heart brad onto the pocket. The other hearts are from a selection of dies.

Onto the hearts I added some peel-off words.

The sentiment is a Incredible Obsession die, with some pearls to finish off.

Will be entering some challenges later in the day.

Thank you for visiting and hope to see you soon.

Take care.

Hello bloggers,

I have been a little slack in posting the last few weeks, just life happening.
Today I have the last Colour challenge for March at The Outlawz. This week it was Kimberly who chose the picture and colours, but she was clever and left the twist up to each one.

Sheepski Designs has been our sponsor this past month with her lovely images, for which we thank Andrea.

I used 2 shades of blue and the white for my colours and decided to leave the colouring for another week and for my twist decided to go with paper piecing, so added some of the papers that I used for her umbrella, bag and shopping bag. They are all from a  paper block that I have had for some time.
Added a few pearls just for a bit of glamour.

Something other than cards today.

Happy Saturday friends,

Yes today not blogging any  papercraft, but rather some yarny projects.

Over the past 2 years or so I have crocheted about 12 blankets of various sizes for the girls in my family. My 4 granddaughters each got one and then decided the 4 DIL's needed to get as well, then my only SIL also received one at the end of last year. I have also done 3 smaller lap throws and these have gone to a charity that I have made  a lot of granny squares for. I have really enjoyed doing all this and have had a number of ladies in our retirement village showing an interest in doing something ...either knitting or crochet.

About 6 months ago I gave it a try and we started a small group meeting twice a month and making squares for blankets for charity. Just before Christmas I was given 6 completed blankets and some squares. These all went to the local group called Maak 'n Verskil ( Make a difference) who donate blankets, beanies, scarves anything to keep people warm in the cold winter.  This week I will be handing in another batch of about 200 squares, 3 blankets, beanies, scarves, bed socks and a few other items. I am so proud of the ladies who are doing such a great job.

I have also decided  to make some more blankets or throws as there are so many lovely patterns out there and I can always gift them to someone.
So at the monent I have 2 main projects going.

The one is A square a week challenge"" on Facebook. We are now on week 6. I have completed the first 4 and am busy on #5, so will catch up before long.

I have quite a bit of Scheepjes Colour Soft left over from one of the granddaughter's blankets so am using this yarn for that project.

I am having a great time with my crochet and in the next posting I will show 2 more projects, 1 completed and another a work in progress.

Have a wonderful weekend and will see you soon.

Love Ursula

Shades of Purple

Happy Wednesday to you all,
I am a day late, but at least I am here. This week at the Colour challenge of The Outlawz, Jacqui chose a monochrome theme with shades of purple. The DT have made gorgeous cards with purples.

With a new month comes a new sponsor and we are so happy to have Lunagirl with their lovely images as our sponsor this month.
The prize is a page of their lovely images.

For my card I have used an image from the sheet of Shabby Violet with some lovely images on it.

I enlarged the picture and cut it out with a Nellie Snellen MFD also using this set for the border diecut.

Added a small lazer cut butterfly coloured with distress inkpads and glitter.

Pearls and ribbon to finish it off.

Left the sentiment off as I will add it later when I need to use the card.

I will come back tomorrow to enter some challenges, as we had a power failure about 6 hours ago and then the power came back but no internet connection.

Thanks for visiting and hope to see you soon.

For Mom

Hello everyone,
Can you believe we are already into the second month of the year. It hardly seems possible that we have been through the whole of January. I must admit having had 2 short breakaways certainly made it rush by a lot faster.

Today in challenge #134 at Let's Craft and Create we are inviting you to make Mother's Day cards. In South Africa we celebrate Mother's day in May, but the UK does so in March, so you can have a head start if you only celebrate it later in the year.   Please do go and have a look at the gorgeous cards made by the DT. Lots of inspiration there and even a small prize for the winner, so I hope you will come and join in the challenge.

This is what I used for my card:

I used Co-ordinations Cardstock. It is lovely double sided, so used the plain side for the 1st layer and embossed the textured side with a Craft Concepts embossing folder. I then sanded it to bring out the plain colour.

I used 2 labels from a Lea'bilities die for the tags. Stamped one with a sentiment and added Peel-offs to the other. Attached them with a brad.

Finished it off with pearls.

I will be entering the following challenges:

Dragonfly Dreams ....Flowers
International Art and Soul #26 ...Texture
Lil Patch of Crafty friends #75...Anything goes
Crafty Friends  #76...Anything goes
Crafting with friends  #60 ...Anything goes
Simply Papercrafts #54...Anything goes

That's it from me for now, but will be back tomorrow with another DT projects, so see you then. Take care.

Love Ursula

When I saw the inspirational photo I was immediately drawn to the colours, especially the background and the fairy wing made me think of butterflies, so that is what I did on my card.

I have for a long time wanted to dabble in mixed media and decided that this will be the year for playing with that idea.

I have had a lot of inspiration from a FB friend Asmah. https://www.facebook.com/qinaahanaartsandcrafts/?ref=profile_intro_card .We were on a DT together for a number of years and it is because of her great ideas that I started this week with my mixed media journey. You can see her creations here

I played with Distress inkpads, texture paste, stencils and glitter.
The sentiments are  from Whiff of Joy stamps
