Winter fun at The Outlawz

Good morning friends,
We are definitely not having winter fun here in South Africa, but it has been rather wet in places.  Seeing all the snow in the Northern countries this weekend on TV, I think my card might be OK for that.

At The Outlawz this week the Colour challenge has called for a twist of winter fun using the inspirational photo chosen by Cara and using at least 3 of the 5 colours suggested.

Our sponsor for this month is Scrap 'n Dipity

For my card I used the blue, green and red.
I had a piece of blue patterned cardstock with snowflakes  and matted an embossed card onto it.
The embossing folder is from Cuttlebug, and I added glitter and frosting

The sentiment was printed on my PC and cut with a Nellies die.

Finished it off with a  ribbon and a heart brad.

Entering the following challenges:
Creates and Makes Challenge  #17 ...Anything goes
Cuttlebug Mania ...It's Christmastime
The Holly and The Ivy #21...Anything Christmas
Tuesday Throwdown #372... Anything goes

Thank you for visiting and have a great week. I hope all your holiday preparations are going well.

Take care and see you soon.

Another Christmas card

Hello there,

I am back again, twice in one day...WOW.
This time I have a card for the challenge at Let's Craft and Create and the theme is Anything Christmas. Please pop over and see the amazing cards made by the team...some great inspiration there.

I used an image from Beccy's Place and I so love the idea that I can use a precoloured image from
Baby Robin set

The paper is from my stash, as I am trying to use up my older papers before buying new ones.

I cut the image out with a MFD  from Nellies and also used a Nellies die for the sentiment.

Attached the image with brads and the sentiment with foam pads.

Will enter it in the following challenges:

Beccy's Place ... December challenge
Crafty Calendar...It's Christmas
Crafty Hazelnut's Christmas challenge ...Anything goes
Hiding in my Craftroom ...Christmas colours

I will end off and thank you for popping in. Take care and enjoy the preparations for the festive season.

A festive card

Good morning friends,

With only 20 days to go to Christmas, it might be a good idea to make a card for this week's Colour challenge at The Outlawz. The inspirational photo from Jeanie, is just the right one for getting into the festive spirit and the team have certainly taken inspiration from it.

We have a new sponsor for the month

Scrap n Dippity are giving the winner 3 digis from their store

I am still taking the easy route for now and have used an embossing folder for my card.

The folder is from Crafts Too and I have coloured the baubles with Pan Pastel metallics, added glitter, peeloffs. stickles  for the glitz and glitter.

The sentiment is a diecut from Crealies.

Will be entering the following challenges:

Good morning friends,
When I saw the inspirational photo of the new Colour challenge at The Outlawz this week , the words of a song from my childhhood came to mind. I don't recall to many other lines, but I just loved the photo which was chosen by my teamie Jacqui together with the twist of NO square cards.

The DT have made lovely projects for inspiration so I hope you go along and give them some love.

I made a rectangle card and sadly there is no lavender to be seen on mine and it is a very simple card.

I used paper received a number of years ago from Michelle Roos Designs

The sentiment is from Deedee's Digis cut out with a Joycrafts label die and attached with brads.

Finished off with a bow.

New colour challenge

Good morning friends,

It is a beautiful spring morning here in my part of South Africa, so the colour challenge at The Outlawz is definitely, a challenge but Jeanie chose the theme and the lovely photo, so that was a help.

The sponsor for the month is Fabrika Fantasy

I got the inspiration for this card while searching for something else and as I am still in a no colouring phase, I enjoyed making it.

The blue card is actually more green.

Embossed the white card and coloured it with my Distress inkpads.

The two tags were cut with a Marianne Design die.

The leaves are a Cuttlebug die, one of my first dies about 10 years ago, also coloured with distress inks. added some twine.

Happy birthday was cut with an Impression Obsession die.

Something very different

Good morning friends and a happy Sunday,

We had such lovely rain last night and after some very hot and dry windy days it is just so lovely to have a beautiful fresh morning.

I have some thoughts and ideas of where I am going...not in my travels, but just in my crafting life. If you decide to leave now, I won't mind...I just needed to get some of my thoughts down here.

When I started my blog way back when, it was because I was very into card making and anything to do with paper crafts. I eventually joined lots of cardmaking groups and I was on a number of Design teams and I certainly enjoyed my time on them, but slowly I wasn't enjoying it all as much...it became a bit stressful as deadlines approached and I wanted to do 'other' things, so I just felt it fair to my team members to step down...I am still on 2 design teams and enjoying this at the moment...most of the time.

After retiring from my craft business 3 years ago hubby and I decided to move to a retirement village, where we would have a smaller garden, the freedom of going away whenever we wished, without worrying about the security issues of leaving our home alone for extended periods

This has been the best decision we have made. We have traveled a lot and visited our families abroad and also intend doing a fair bit of travelling in our own beautiful country in the next few months.

I have had time to do 'other'things. 2 years ago I also revisited an old hobby of mine...working with yarn and needles..knitting for a charity and crocheting for fun.

There are several of my other hobbies that I just didn't have time for.

Our veggie garden has been very successful the last 2 years and I am so enjoying having fresh produce from the garden. Hubby has enjoyed spending time in the kitchen...not much cooking..but lovely baking, especially breads.

We have been doing quite a lot of walking and just enjoying the time we can with family,  friends and our neighbours who have all become such good friends.
So my story is almost over, I will still be showing my cards  but now will also be posting some of my life, so please if this doesn't interest you, you are most welcome to leave and I won't be upset. Some of my blogging friends who are also FB friends, have asked why do I not post some of my travel and other pictures here...so you will probably see a few of those coming up.

If you have stayed to the end, thank you. This was just a brief review of what has kept me busy the last couple of years and hopefully, will be doing more of the same in the next few.

I wish you all a wonderful Sunday and I hope you are enjoying whatever it is that you are doing.

Take care and love from me.  Ursula xxx

A great new challenge at The Outlawz

Good morning all,

Tuesday morning brings another Colour challenge at The Outlawz and this week Carla has given us a fantastic inspirational picture.  The DT have all made some really great projects inspired by this picture.

Our sponsor this month is Fabrika Fantasy with 3 digis as a prize.

I am still not into colouring, so again used a lovely pre-coloured picture Fairy-tale Princess for my card. I cut it out with a Nellie Snellen MFD

I was inspired by the glass balls and the glimmer and glitz, so tried to create a background with embossing powder and a stencil. It does look better on the card than on the photo.

I also added glitter and gems to the dress and a few scattered gems around the card.

The sentiment was computer generated.

Will enter the following challenges:

Crafting from the Heart #179...Anything goes
Ooh-la-la #239...diecuts
Glitter n Sparkle #261 ...Anything goes
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #68...Anything goes
Crafting with friends #52...Anything goes
Simply Papercraft #52...Anything goes
Crafty Friends challenge # 68...Anything goes

Thanks for visiting, take care and see you soon.

Witchy or Autumn challenge

Good morning,

After having had a lovely long holiday and needing to get back into routine, I have somehow not succeeded very well, as I forgot all about posting this challenge last week...so very sorry.

Over at Let's Craft and Create this month the challenge is to create something witchy or autumn. Now not being much into Haloween, I decided to go with autumn.
I haven't yet got back into crafting fully, so just went with something simple.

For some lovely ideas please go and visit the DT and see the lovely cards they have come up with.

The idea came from something I saw on Pinterest.

Punched 3 squares with a leaf punch, matted onto coloured squares.

Added twine and a tag to complete this.

I quite liked the CAS look.

Will enter some challenges:

Created and Makes challenge #15...Anything goes
Crafting from the Heart #178...Anything goes
Cardy in Envy ... Blowing in the wind
A Bit more time to craft   #53...Anything goes
The Crafter's Cafe...#182...Use diecuts or punches

Thanks for visiting and I will be back soon. Take care and keep safe.

Back with a colour challenge

Good morning friends,

I can't believe it is so long since I was on here, but my lovely long holiday was the reason that I didn't do any posting, but all things come to an end and so here I am back and bringing you a lovely Colour challenge from The Outlawz today. I have been doing such a lot of crocheting the last year and when I saw this gorgeous design I just new I had to use this for a colour challenge.

The DT have made lovely cards using  an image from our sponsor Fabrika Fantasy

I used the image Poppy fairy for my card and decided to do some paper piecing for my poppies, as I am not doing well with my colouring at the moment.

Added some glitter to the fairy wings.
Ribbon with a bow and my added flower to finish.

Will add a sentiment when I want to use the card.

I do hope you will join in the challenge this week and would love to have you visit and see the cards made by teamies.

Take and will see you soon

Girls, girls, girls at Let's Craft & Create

Hello from a long absent blogger,

I am back after a lovely holiday in New Zealand, but after our return home both my hubby and I got some sort of virus (not the same one) had very different symptoms, but I am pleased to say I am back to full health. Hubby still is not quite there.

This month over at Let's Craft and Create the new challenge is "Girls, girls, girls"
Please pop in and see the lovely designs from the DT. They are just awesome.

It took me a while to get myself into the crafting mode, having been away for 3 months...so this is what I decided to do.

All the printed papers are the last pieces from a "My mind's eye"paper bloc.
I distressed two of the pieces and stamped a design from a Marianne Design set onto one of the pieces.
The pink diecut is actually a piece of fabric with an adhesive packing.

Added lace and some thin corded ribbon with a beaded pin and a pearl.

Added a tag with a sentiment.

Entering the following challenges:

 Artistic Inspirations  #180...Anything goes
Crafting from the Heart #162...Anything goes
Come and Get it ...Anything goes
Lil Patch of Crafty Friends #59...Anything goes

It's been great to share this with you all and I will come back later to enter a few challenges.

Will be back soon, take care.

March progressive challenge

Happy 1st March friends,

I love this month mainly for 2 reasons. It is my birthday month, and we also start feeling the change of seasons as summer fades and we get the lovely autum feel in the air.
I am also pleased that March has arrived, because we will be going to visit our family in New Zealand shortly, where I will celebrate my birthday.

This month at The Outlawz the new progressive challenge is sponsored by Beccy's Place with 3 images. Spring window in colour, black & white and also a sentiment.

The DT have made lovely cards for inspiration using these images.

If you played last month, you will already have received your images, if you would like to join then you need to register and give us your email. If you make a car this month you will receive the new image next month.

For my card I used the precoloured image.

I used  lavendar cardstock and onto that I matted a white card that I embossed with texture paste. I then coloured it with destress inkpads.

Cut the image with an X-cut die .

Added a branch cut with a Marianne die. Used craft cardstock and coloured with distress inkpads.

The sentiment was attached with 3D foam pads.

Will look to enter some challenges.

I wish you all a great week and a wonderful month. Take care.

For my card I have used Flower tree

I used a brown DP from my stash and onto that I matted a piece of blue embossed cardstock

The image was cut with a diecut,,no colouring but attached pearls for the flower centres.

A brown seam binding bow and extra pearls to finish.

I used a peel-off sentiment, as I actually am needing this for a birthday, so will be able to easily remove the sentiment.

Live your life in colour

Good morning and a happy Tuesday,
We have some beautiful rain all through yesterday and last night. I wish the whole country could share in this, but sadly there are still very dry conditions down in the south western part of the country, where they are badly needing rain.

This week for the Colour Challenge at The Outlawz I have chosen an inspirational photo for you.

The DT were inspired with such diverse results on their  amazing cards.  I fell in love with the gorgeous colours and the beautiful fabrics of the cushions. Join us and let's see what inspires you.

Bugaboo Stamps is our sponsor for this month with their lovely fun images.

For my card I was inspred by the fabric of the cushions and the lovely colours, I used a Bugaboo image Beautiful blocks - life in colour

For the background I used adhesive fabric paper from DCWV which I have had for a few years.

The image was coloured with Distress inkpads, and a touch of glitter was added, but it doesn't show up on the photo.

Coloured my ribbon with distress inkpads as well.

Finished off with a few small buttons.
