Swing doors and other new images at DS4J

Hello bloggers,
I am back again with a new image to show you, and there are more where this one came from. Sunday is always new release day at Digistamps4Joy, so why not head over and see for yourself what lovely cards have been made by the DT using some of the new images. These can be found  HERE at the store and remember there is always a bonus reward for you when purchasing....you get $1 reward for $10 purchased, which goes toward your next purchase.

The swing doors made me think of a small pub/diner, so this is what I came up with.

 I cut out the image Swing doors, put it onto a piece from the JoyCrafts  paper block "Bricks" and the image "watch this space"  behind the doors, and put this onto a piece of paper from Glitz paper pack "French kiss". Both images are coloured with distress inks.












I will see if there is a challenge or two to fit this card.

Two hearts filling die

Good morning friends,
Can you believe the first 6 months of the year are gone....Having a busy weekend, but just want to show a card made with the lovely filling die from Nellie Snellen. I love these dies, so you will see more of them. This  easel is one of the cards made for yesterday's class at Country Crafts. Will show the second one later.

Here is what I used:
Paper....core'dinations...lovely embossed cardstock, just have to sand to get the colours showing.
Hearts..Nellie Snellen filling die cut with foam and stamped on.
Flowers a selection of flowers using Olba punch and Nellie floral punch.
I also used the filling strips die to make a quilled flower for the centre.
Butterfly ...Joy , vintage flourishes
Label - Joy labels and tags.
Sentiment from Country crafts.
Pearls and pontura paint for the flower centres.

A quickie just for you

Happy Friday friends,
Looking forward to the weekend?. I have a card class tomorrow and then hopefully getting on with some DT work...what are your plans....

This is a card I made for a friend. I needed one in a bit of a hurry, so no image to colour. Marianne Designs to the rescue.

Paper ...Romantic Vintage by Marianne Design., punched the corners.
Dies are also MD dies. LR0265,LR0116
The flowers were made with LR0145, added stamens.
Finished off with  pearls and a Sentiment.
It really came together so quickly.

The Outlawz colour challenge with a musical twist

Good morning friends.
Today is another colour challenge at The Outlawz. The colour palette was chosen by Guylou with the twist ..something to do with music.

I was thinking of the definition of the word CHALLENGE. This is what I found..."

 A test of one's abilities or resources in a demanding but stimulating undertaking"  

This was in fact a real challenge.......When I first saw the chosen colours and the twist, I knew just what I was going to do....Yea right!!! not so simple. I couldn't find the paper I had in mind, substituted that ..then the image didn't work so well... the embellishments didn't look right...so just scrapped the whole idea and started again.

If you  have a look at the cards made by the DT, you will certainly get a lot of inspiration from their lovely creations.

This is what I came up with.

Paper ...red cardstock stamped with some music notes and punched corners
             white card embossed with a music folder, sponged with distress ink.
Sentiment...Hero arts
Music ribbon and a music charm....have had both these items for ages, so at least they could have some show time.

New releases... dragonflies and more.....

Good morning friends and a happy Sunday.
Welcome to my new followers, so pleased you have found some inspiration here and hope you will visit often.
I would also like to send good wishes to my friends in Canada, in the flood ravaged areas. I am thinking of you all and hope that you get relief soon.

For the men in our lives...challenge #69 at DS4J

Happy Wednesday morning,
It is a short week as we had a holiday on Monday, so Wednesday seemed to come round very quickly. A reminder for the challenge at Digistamps4Joy...For the men in our lives.

This is my card.

Patterned paper is from a Denim paper bloc that I have had for at least a year and then found a matching check in my stash.
Image is called 'fishing tackle' and can be found HERE. Coloured with Distress ink pads.
The die cut is from Joy designs and the little fish are from Memory box.
Finished off with twine and buttons.

It's a girl at the Outlawz colour challenge

Good morning friends,
Today we have another colour challenge at The Outlawz. Teammate Penny chose the gorgeous colours and the twist....Make it for a baby.

I used the sketch from Deconstructed Sketch #105 











My card was made for a girl.
My patterned papers are pieces from my stash that I have had for a long time. The centre panel I embossed and coloured with Pan Pastels.


The image 'Bootie beauties" and tag are from DS4J coloured with Distress inkpads, added some liquid pearl dots and a touch of glitter to the ribbon...a girl has to have glitter, even as a baby!

Happy Youth Day

Good morning friends,
Yes today it is Youth Day in South Africa, This day commemorates the Soweto Uprising which was  a series of protests led by high school students in South Africa that began on the morning of 16 June 1976. Students from numerous Sowetan schools began to protest in the streets of Soweto in response to the introduction of Afrikaans as the medium of instruction in local schools. An estimated 20,000 students took part in the protests. The number of people who died is usually given as 176. June 16 is now a public holiday. It is just so sad, that so many of today's youth do not take education seriously.
As the holiday is on a Sunday, we are lucky to have the Monday off as well, so a lovely long weekend.

Today as usual is also the new image releases at Digistamps4Joy  One of these is "Mistri - solitude" which I have used for my card, and the DT ladies have made some gorgeous cards for inspiration.

The image was coloured with Aquarelle pencils and Twinkling H2O's
The DP is from a paper bloc of Marianne Design...Victorian Vintage.
Added lace, pearls, seam binding and a bead pin.

Another colour challenge today

A good morning to all my blogging friends,
Our weather has taken a very definite winter turn, with yesterday being rather chilly,  but at least the sun is shining, so if you can find a sunny corner out of the freezing wind, then it is lovely. Hopefully  it will warm up a little over the next few days.

Tuesdays are colour challenge day at The Outlawz and today's colour palette and inspirational photo was Ina's choice. The DT have all mande some wonderful cards for inspiration.

Not yet being quite into the swing of things after my holiday, I decided to go with a no image...so no colouring card.
The DP is from Eline's, Buitenhus...Dolls House.
For the rosette I used one of my newly acquired Nellie Snellen's multifolding dies, and attached this to a MD diecut.
Finished it off with pearls a bow and  sentiment.
I don't seem to be able to get the photos to show the true colour of the papers

Just a tag today

Happy Sunday morning,
A beautiful crisp early winter morning. Blue skies, no wind, just perfect....but we are told a front will be moving in and the temps will drop today and tomorrow, so I am just loving it while it lasts. Hope your Sunday is beautiful where ever you are.

Sunday is always new release day at  Digistams4Joy and today there are some lovely images again from Margy and Jen. You will be able to see the images and the lovely cards made with some of them HERE

The tag is what I used today. I was going to use it on a card, but time ran out and then I realised I need a gift tag for a lovely lady, so decided to use this sentiment, which best describes her and just make the tag.

The photo doesn't seem to be that good, might have to try and redo it....
I coloured the flowers with twinkling H2O's..my colour choice for these was inspired by the gorgeous fields of tulips we saw last month on our holiday in the Netherlands, and one colour in particular just stuck with me...yellow with splashes of orange...so different from the usual, red, yellow, pinks.
I used distress inks for the grass and clouds, and added some gems on the flowers. A lovely bright tag.

Freebie Friday at DS4J

Hello friends and a happy Friday,
The first Friday of each month you can collect a free image at Digistamps4Joy. All that you need to do is go to the  SHOP and open an account if you have not already done that. Click on the FREEBIES category and you will be able to receive your image "Cherry bonsai" completely free of charge, but hurry it only available for 2 days.

On the Challenge blog you will be able to see some of the lovely cards made by the DT using this image.

I was a bit late finishing off mine, so showing it here.

I used the sketch from the Outlawz sketch challenge for the card.
I coloured the image with a combination of aquarelle pencils, twinkling H2O's and distress inkpads, cut it out with a circle die.
Matted a printed vellum onto pink card. I thought this went so well with the cherry blossom image. Matted a strip of embossed cardstock, coloured with distress inkpad, and mounted the image onto it.
Added 2 oriental charms which I have had for ages.

Midway challenge #68 at Digistamps4Joy

Good morning blogging friends,
Still trying to catch up with my craft room sorting, but  am making some cards in between, mainly for DT work. Hopefully the weekend will be playtime for fun.

Today is a reminder that  challenge #68 going on at Digistamps4Joy has the theme "Forever young" Here in South Africa we celebrate Youth day on 16 June, and with this in mind we challenge you to use any image depicting youth. Just to mention that should you use a DS4J image you will of course get an extra chance in the draw. The DT have made some wonderful cards for your inspiration, so do go and have a look at them. Hope to see you join in the fun.

Also something fairly new is the introduction of a rewards system when purchasing images at the shop. For every $10 spent you get $1 reward, which could be used towards your next purchase.......great idea I think.

My card is using the image "Special friends" and can be found HERE.

I used Distress inkpads to colour the image, added liquid pearls for the buttons and Stickles frosted lace to the dress. Cut it out with a round scalloped die, matted onto Patterned paper, from a no name paper block. The flowers were punched with Nellie Snellen floral punches and sprayed with glimmer mist and liquid pearl centres. A pity the flowers do not show up the true colour on the photo.
Lace, ribbon bow and pearls to finish.
I made this card with the challenge of  613 avenue create in mind. I found it such fun.

Colour challenge at The Outlawz

Good morning friends,
It is Tuesday, so then it is  colour challenge day at The Outlawz. Today the inspirational photo and colour palette were chosen by Roxann with the  Jazzy June twist to add jewels/bling.

For my card I used an image from Andrea Jayne, coloured with distress ink pads and cut out with a Nestability die. Layered this with 3Dfoam tape onto a larger cut out that had been embossed.
Finished off with ribbon and gems.

New release at DS4J

Good morning friends,
As usual on a Sunday there are new releases at Digistamps4Joy. Having been away I haven't been able to take part in the new releases, but this week I am able to do so. Jen Lee has drawn a number of images in the Misteri range, which I have only been able to admire, so this week was only too pleased to be able to use Misteri in Japan. If you hop on over to the  DS4J blog you will be able to see the lovely cards by the DT with the new images.

I coloured the image with Distress ink pads and added some pearlised paint for a different effect.
Put it through the cuttlebug with an embossing folder that makes me think of cherry blossoms.
Designer paper is from a paper block of vintage papers I got while on holiday.
Added some pearls, and a glass button. I have had these buttons for a couple of years and just enjoyed looking at them, but never using them.

Back home and ready to go

Hello to all my blogging friends,
Yes I am back from holiday and have had a couple of days to get sorted. After 15 hours of travelling we were rather tired and it is taking time to get back to normal activities. I think the older one gets, the longer it takes....my opinion and that's what I am sticking to.
We had a fabulous 5 weeks with our family in The Netherlands , did lots with the grandchildren in their activities spent some time with my DIL in her hobby shop, did some shopping and had fun with everyone, ...the weather could have been better, but we didn't go for the weather.
I was surprised to see that I had only posted 3 cards while away, so here is one I made but didn't get to show.

Image is a Noor design stamp, which I got while on holiday...coloured with aquarelle pencils and the background shaded with Pan Pastels.
