Up and away

Happy Tuesday everyone.

Yay, I am on time this week with the new colour challenge at The Outlawz. Laurian has chosen a lovely photo for our challenge this week using the 3 colours given and a twist of adding a balloon...now it can be any kind of balloon. Our sponsor has  given the DT  lovely images to work with, including some hot air ballons, so many of the team have used these this week.

Our sponsor is Lunagirl

I also used one of the images from the Sponsors's collage sheet for my card.

The background paper is from Time traveller's memories by Prima.
Matted the image onto blue and red paper and attached it with yellow brads.
The sentiment is a diecut from Impression Obsession.

Something other than cards today.

Happy Saturday friends,

Yes today not blogging any  papercraft, but rather some yarny projects.

Over the past 2 years or so I have crocheted about 12 blankets of various sizes for the girls in my family. My 4 granddaughters each got one and then decided the 4 DIL's needed to get as well, then my only SIL also received one at the end of last year. I have also done 3 smaller lap throws and these have gone to a charity that I have made  a lot of granny squares for. I have really enjoyed doing all this and have had a number of ladies in our retirement village showing an interest in doing something ...either knitting or crochet.

About 6 months ago I gave it a try and we started a small group meeting twice a month and making squares for blankets for charity. Just before Christmas I was given 6 completed blankets and some squares. These all went to the local group called Maak 'n Verskil ( Make a difference) who donate blankets, beanies, scarves anything to keep people warm in the cold winter.  This week I will be handing in another batch of about 200 squares, 3 blankets, beanies, scarves, bed socks and a few other items. I am so proud of the ladies who are doing such a great job.

I have also decided  to make some more blankets or throws as there are so many lovely patterns out there and I can always gift them to someone.
So at the monent I have 2 main projects going.

The one is A square a week challenge"" on Facebook. We are now on week 6. I have completed the first 4 and am busy on #5, so will catch up before long.

I have quite a bit of Scheepjes Colour Soft left over from one of the granddaughter's blankets so am using this yarn for that project.

I am having a great time with my crochet and in the next posting I will show 2 more projects, 1 completed and another a work in progress.

Have a wonderful weekend and will see you soon.

Smiling flowers

Hello everyone,

It is Wednesday and I am again a day late with posting the Colour challenge at The Outlawz. This week it was Kimberly who chose the lovely inspirational photo for us. All you have to do is choose 2 colours from the photo to use along with the given colour and you even get to choose your own twist. The DT have come up trumps with some lovely projects, so do coma and join in the fun.

Our sponsor Luna Girl has some lovely coloured images which the
DT have used this week.

For my card I followed a sketch from The Outlawz.
Paper from my stash matted onto  card. Coloured the edges with distress inkpads.

Label cut with a Nellie Snellen MFD and also inked the edges.

Coloured image I used is taken from the Fairy fold collage sheet

Added twine and a brad.

Shades of Purple

Happy Wednesday to you all,
I am a day late, but at least I am here. This week at the Colour challenge of The Outlawz, Jacqui chose a monochrome theme with shades of purple. The DT have made gorgeous cards with purples.

With a new month comes a new sponsor and we are so happy to have Lunagirl with their lovely images as our sponsor this month.
The prize is a page of their lovely images.

For my card I have used an image from the sheet of Shabby Violet with some lovely images on it.

I enlarged the picture and cut it out with a Nellie Snellen MFD also using this set for the border diecut.

Added a small lazer cut butterfly coloured with distress inkpads and glitter.

Pearls and ribbon to finish it off.

Left the sentiment off as I will add it later when I need to use the card.

I will come back tomorrow to enter some challenges, as we had a power failure about 6 hours ago and then the power came back but no internet connection.

Thanks for visiting and hope to see you soon.

Hugs, Ursula

For Mom

Hello everyone,
Can you believe we are already into the second month of the year. It hardly seems possible that we have been through the whole of January. I must admit having had 2 short breakaways certainly made it rush by a lot faster.

Today in challenge #134 at Let's Craft and Create we are inviting you to make Mother's Day cards. In South Africa we celebrate Mother's day in May, but the UK does so in March, so you can have a head start if you only celebrate it later in the year.   Please do go and have a look at the gorgeous cards made by the DT. Lots of inspiration there and even a small prize for the winner, so I hope you will come and join in the challenge.

This is what I used for my card:

I used Co-ordinations Cardstock. It is lovely double sided, so used the plain side for the 1st layer and embossed the textured side with a Craft Concepts embossing folder. I then sanded it to bring out the plain colour.

I used 2 labels from a Lea'bilities die for the tags. Stamped one with a sentiment and added Peel-offs to the other. Attached them with a brad.

Finished it off with pearls.

I will be entering the following challenges:

Dragonfly Dreams ....Flowers
International Art and Soul #26 ...Texture
Lil Patch of Crafty friends #75...Anything goes
Crafty Friends  #76...Anything goes
Crafting with friends  #60 ...Anything goes
Simply Papercrafts #54...Anything goes

That's it from me for now, but will be back tomorrow with another DT projects, so see you then. Take care.

Love Ursula
