J for Joshua

Good morning everyone,
I trust the week is treating you all well. We are having very hot weather here, not sure where spring has gone off to, but summer has definitely arrived. Yesterday the temp was 35 deg. C and the next few days much the same forecast, with a sprinkling of rain for tomorrow. Hope the sprinkling happens to be here over our area.
Well my card today was made for our grandson Joshua's 10th birthday. He loves doing things with his hands and is always making tree houses, or some or other contraption with his tools.
Here's what I used.
Paper......DP was from a pad, Wilson & Macglaglin. The brown I put through the cuttlebug with a folder to look like wood.
Image....Whiff of Joy, coloured with copics,....I am trying to use them more often...I cut it out and mounted with foam pads
The letter J and the numbers were cut with my Cricut......I did well used 2 of my "tools" for this card.. The J  also ran through the cuttlebug.
Sentiment....a local stamp...attached it and the J with brads... nails.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
All sorts....To the letter
Karen's Doodles K..for Karen..use a letter.
That's it for now. You go and have a great week, take care.

Good afternoon to everyone,
Here we are having a stunning summer Saturday afternoon. After some very bad hail storms during the week, the garden is putting on its brave face and looking not too bad. All the cleaning up is not quite finished yet, but getting there.
I wuld loike to say a warm welcome to my new followers. It is great to have you visitng and love to hear your comments. Please pop back often.
My card today is the second card in the  CDAC progressive  challenge no 5. Can't believe there is only one left to go, and this is one of the digis that we were given to work with. It is fromDigis by Phooka

The papers I used were all left overs from last Christmas, I cut out a scolloped oval with a Nestie, ran it through the cuttlebug with a snowflakes folder, added some glitter.
The image was coloured with distress inkpads, added a bit of puffy and some glitter to her hat.
Finished off with a Christmas tree brad and some pearls.

CDAC progressive challenge 5

Good morning friends,
What a day yesterday was. Started of cloudy, with a prediction of heavy rains. Got darker, the sun came out, got grey, the sun came out...no rain....THEN at about 3pm some thunder and hail, but very small stones and only a minute or two...so not really much water had fallen.....BUT about an hour later, it got dark and then.....hailstones like small eggs came pounding down.....waited for the windows to go, but thankfully they stayed whole. Our garden now has a green carpet everywhere and all the trees have been considerably "thinned out". Not sure how much fruit is left on the trees.  Well that's nature for you....... Hope no more of that for now. Right now, beautiful blue skies.
On to my card for today. This is the first of the cards for the progressive challenge over at CDAC, where we are given 5 images to create with. The last challenge I snuck in at the death and only managed to upload one card before cutoff, so this week I intend to be a little earlier.

The added challenge was to use colours from the cool side of the colour wheel, so this is what I have done.
Paper....Pieces from my stash...I think the navy is Papermania...not too sure.
Image: from SSBS Design coloured with Distress inkpads, mounted onto a doily cut from a Marianne design die.
Sentiment computer generated, finished off with some brads and a gingerbread man button.
Busy with some more of the images for this challenge, hope to get them done this weekend, but first have a garden to tidy up.
Take care, have fun and see you soon.

Embellish it..."Seein Double"

Good morning friends,
Well Wednesday morning, so half way there....to the weekend of course.  This week  on  Digi Stamps 4 Joy, the challenge is EMBELLISH IT ...seein double, so that is just what I have done.
I just love this image, and as we are not big on Halloween here in South Africa, I decided  to use some other colours than the traditional Halloween ones.

Here's what I did:
Paper:  Green cardstock, matted DP printed from a Funky Hand CD....Dreams come true
Image: "Hangin with spidey" DS4J, coloured with distress inkpads and Twinkling H20's and cut with a Nellie Snellen MFD
Sentiment...Whiff of Joy
Finished off with 2 buttons, 2 brads and 2 ribbons.
Hope you like it. Pop over to the  challenge blog and see what the other DT members have created and then come  and join us with your entry. We would love to see what you make of this challenge. You don't have to have a DS4J image to take part, but you could be a winner if you do.  Hope to see you there.

I am also entering this into the following
The Outlawz Greeting card challenge...everything goes
Make it Monday...Create, share inspire

Take care and have fun

Anniversary wishes

Hello blogging friends on this glorious Sunday here in my part of the world.
Watched the rugby this morning and my 2nd team (NZ All Blacks) are through to the final next week, so that was a good start.
My card today was made for a couple celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. It is quite a simple card, based on one I saw some time back in blogland. Made a sketch at the time, but didn't make a note of the blog.

Used a white shimmer cardstock and punched the edges with fancy edge punch. Put a piece of the paper through the cuttlebug with the swiss dots folder for the centre triangle.
Sentiment ...Whiff of Joy punched out with a nestie and a peel-off 40.
Flourishes and flowers are cut with a Marianne design die, using the same shimmer paper and just coloured with distress ink pads.
A few pearls to finish

In my rush to get the photo before delivering the card, I forgot to show the inside, but never mind. The couple loved it.

I am entering this in the following challenges:
Secret Crafter...White and one other colour
Have a wonderful Sunday and enjoy the week ahead. Take care and have fun

More Halloween for CDAC progressive challenge.

Hello!.... I said I would be back soon.
As promised here is my second card for the CDAC progressive challenge. Another Halloween card. As I said in my previous post in South Africa we don't really celelbrate Halloween, but I think it is fun and my 2 cards will be wending heir way across the waters on Monday to some friends.
For this card I chose the image from Sew Many Cards.

I coloured with Distress ink pads and cut out the image which I popped onto a scolloped oval with foam pads. All of this was mounted onto the DP which is again from SherriK designs.
Sentiment.....OH MY WORD, I just realised I left it off. It was a computer generated one, which I will put on before mailing it.
Finished off with a black cat button and some brads.
That's it for now.
I do have a third image printed, not Halloween,  but not sure I am going to get it finished in time for the deadline, so it might only come up here next week.
I need to do some chores.....and the garden is calling and the lovely weather is just begging to be enjoyed.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend, take care and have fun.

CDAC progressive challenge 4

Happy Saturday to all my friends.
Hope you had a good week and ready for a relaxing Saturday. Here it is just lovely sunny weather....sorry for those in the cooler regions of the world...but we are waiting for some rain.
Today I have the first of my cards for this series of the CDAC Progressive challenge, it closes today, so I am again just sneaking in. Thank goodness for the different time zones, it gives me a few extra hours.
This image is from Designs to Delight.

I coloured the image with Distress Ink pads, cut it out with a nestie, matted onto black which I then trimmed. The DP was a Halloween freebie from  SherrieK designs.
The embellishments were gifts last year in a RAK from a friend and came in very handy, as in South Africa we are not big on Halloween so all these bits and pieces are not freely available.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:
Craft your days away ...Halloween colours
Design2delight...Halloween
I will be back shortly with the second card for this challenge..

Happy birthday Magda

Good morning all, Yippee!! it's Friday and that means the weekend ....looks like a really good one with great weather...still no rain, but it will come soon..."I hope"
My card today was made for a friend's birthday. I will be using this design for a class in November, so tried it out. First saw it on Karen's Doodles NL challenge blog, and tried it with some small changes. It worked out well, and my friend was thrilled with it.

Here is what I used:
Paper..Papermania...Especially for you
Images...Cupcake...Country crafts, Teapot...Papermania ...Summer Bloom stamp set.
Lacy Die...Mariannes Designs, also the small tag.
Added, lace, pearls and a bow. and a teapot charm to the tag...Needed that to balance the card. It doesn't show up well on the photo.
Sentiment....computer generated.

Sorry the photo doesn't do it justice, but had to take a quick picture as I was giving it to her and realised I had"nt taken a photo.

Well that's it for now. Have a wonderful weekend and take care.

WOW. What a day!!!

Hello friends, Hope you are having a great week. The weather is just glorious and I would just love to be outside more at the moment, but I have had a lot of preparation to do for classes, so hope the weekend will be equally glorious.
Today I did a class for 10 ladies at Country Crafts in Johannesburg and it was all so exciting as we had a very special guest. Non other than Marianne from Marianne's Designs in the Netherlands. I think many of you are using her dies already. She is such a lovely lady and it was an honour to have her sitting in on the class.
This is the card that we made, with a small variation in the class. I saw the picture on Jennie's blog and really liked it, so asked if she would mind me using it. I think the original came from one of the Stampartic design team, but couldn't find it there.
This is what I used for the card and the box:
Paper: Kaisercraft...English Rose collection
I used a selection of dies from Marianne Designs, Nellie Snellen and Joy crafts to cut the hearts, flourishes and flowers using scraps of shimmer paper and various bits and pieces.
Finished off with some seam binding on the front and a few pearls.
When once I had worked out the idea it was actually easy to put together.
I also  made a box for it to go into. This is just a basic "pizza" style box, that is also so easy to put together.
Altogether the ladies loved it.

I am entering this in some challenges as well:
Top Tip Tuesday.... Use DP and handmade flowers

Hope you all have a good week, have fun and  enjoy what you are doing. Will be back soon.

Good morning friends,Yikes it  is Saturday and the first week of October is history. Hope you all had a good productive week. I haven't been making many cards for challenges, but putting together kits, for a number of classes last week and this coming week. Just so many to do. The card I am showing today, is an "old faithful" the tri shutter card. Haven't made any for ages, but was asked to do a class last week, so this was my sample.

Dies used:
Heart and doilie are Nellie Snellen MFD
Butterflies Marianne Design and Nellie Snellen punches.
Flowers Marianne design
Sentiments: Whiff of Joy and an unknown.
Finished off with pearls, Seam binding bow and a lovely beaded pin, that was some candy a while back
All of the Marianne design, Nellie's MFD, and the Papermania range papers are available from Joan Country Crafts and rubber stamps in Johannesburg.

Hope to be back soon. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
