Going surfin...with The Outlawz

Good morning friends,
Hope you all had a great weekend. Here in South Africa we had a holiday on Friday, so a lovely long weekend. The weather was rather cold, chilly and even a bit wet, so not  great for being outdoors, but we had a bit of family time, went to see a musical...Starlight Express and spent time being creative..so for me a good weekend.


For the colour challenge  at The Outlawz this week it was my turn to choose the colours and inspirational photo, and the twist is to add polka dots.


My card  is made with an image from our sponsor  Digistamps4Joy, called 'Alex the Surfer' and can be found HERE. DS4J is sponsoring the challenges this month.




Here is what I used:
Paper ...Paper pad by Cart-us
Image ...coloured with Distress inks. I added glossy accents to his glasses. Cut it  with a Nestability  die.
Added 3 buttons.
Sentiment...Computer generated.

Under the Mistletoe at DS4J

Hello friends
It doesn't feel like Saturday today...I guess because we had a holiday yesterday, the weekend has gone a little bit strange.
I am a few days late with this card as this was one of the new images from last Sunday. I just liked it so am showing it to you in case you haven't yet seen this image.

I kept it fairly simple, and used the sketch from The Outlawz
Image..."under the Mistletoe" from       Digistamps4Joy, coloured with Distress inks and cut with a scalloped die.
The corners were cut with a JoyCrafts die.
The fancy strip was a Martha Stewart punch.
Finished off with a peeloff sentiment

It was a lovely quick card to make...will need to do more quick ones..

A gift all wrapped up

Good morning everyone,
Greetings from South Africa on this National Women's Day holiday. We woke in the early hours to thunder and lightning, with a bit of rain...now this is not unusual here by us, but it usually happens only in the summertime...and it isn't summer yet, in fact it is decidedly winter today with an icy wind blowing. It has been raining for the last 4 - 5 hours, soft soaking....I can just see the grass growing this week, but I now see some blue patches so I hope the sun does come out.
We are having a bit of a family get together at my youngest son's house, as they celebrate the completion of some house renovations which just seem to carry on forever, with builder hassles and many other related problems. So a bit of sun will be most welcome.

I also want to welcome my new followers. Love having you here and hope you can find some inspiration and will come back soon. Please let me know what you think, I love reading comments.

My second week as GD for Gerda Steiner Designs and my card today is made with one of her choices 'Cute cat tied on gift" and you can find it HERE.
She also has a lovely freebie of 'Otto the octopus', so you may collect it and then join in the challenge for this month.

This is what I did

Paper...various bits from my stash,  embossed the blue with a CB folder and sanded it lightly
Image...cat on gift, coloured with Distress inks, added some dots with a gel pen, and did a little random stamping on the gift. Cut it out with an X-cut die.
Sentiment...Country crafts, a local company added twine and some card candy.

I do hope you will have a go at this challenge with the freebie that Gerda is offering.

DS4J challenge #73...embellishments

Good morning friends,
Another challenge at Digistamps4Joy. I have the honour of hosting this challenge and the theme I have chosen is to make your own embellishments. Now you can use anything you like..paper, ribbon, clay, metal - whatever takes your fancy. I have decided to use shrink plastic to make a heart for my card. I have written a short tutorial about using shrink plastic, just in case you haven't yet worked with it. It really is great fun.

For my card I used the following
Image...Pocket love available  Here. I coloured it with Distress inks.
Papers....I ran the plain red through the cuttlebug with Swiss dots folder, and then lightly sanded it to bring out the white. The striped is from my stash.
Sentiment ....peel-offs
Beads and pins to finish.

I hope you will join in this week. The DT have made some lovely cards with lots of inspiration. There is a great prize to be won and even if you don't have a DS4J image, you can still be in the running for a prize.

Colour challenge with a tag at The Outlawz

Good morning friends,
The weeks are just flying by and Tuesday has arrived again. As usual today there is a new colour challenge  at The Outlawz.

Lindsay chose the colour palette and the beautiful inspirational photo, with the twist to add a tag.

This month our theme is Auspicious August and  we have Digistamps4Joy as our sponsor. The DT will be using images from DS4J during the month.

I have used the image "star keeper" on my card this week.and it can be found HERE.

Paper...Purple cardstock, punched in the corners

Image...Star Keeper, printed onto vanilla cardstock, coloured with distress inks and twinkling H2O"s and cut with a Nellie Snellen MFD.

The tags were cut with a Leabilities die, inked the edges and attached with a brad.

Sentiment computer generated.
Pearls added.




I just find it frustrating that the colours on the photo are not nearly what is on the card, but I guess the 'photographer' is not very qualified.....LOL

Guest Designer at Gerda Steiner Designs

Hello friends,
I did say I would be back again today, well here I am. I have some great news and that is that I am GD for the month of August at a lovely new digi stamp site Gerda Steiner Designs. The image I have used today is Dog on scooter. I love this image..he looks like he is off to have some fun ...
