Green for the Irish

 Hello friends,
I know it isn't yet St. Patrick's day, but I suddenly remembered last night that Avadares challenge blog had a freebie for St. Patrick's day and the challenge ends today. As I need a card celebrating this good Irish feast, I got myself into gear and made this card.

Happy birthday DS4J

Good morning everyone and a happy Wednesday,
Today I have a card celebrating Birthdays are fun. Digistamps4Joy is celebrating the 1st birthday of the new management, so we invite you to join in the fun and show us your birthday cards. Team B have made some lovely cards for your inspiration this week so why not hop on over to the challenge blog and show us your creations. There are great prizes and you don't have to use a DS4J image, but you get entered twice in the draw if you do.

This is my birthday card:
Image..."Watch this space", where I have filled in the birthday greeting and coloured with distress inks
Papers...a pad of Wilson & Maclagan. I cut out the wrapped gifts from one sheet and raised them with foam pads, plus a little bit of sparkle.
The blue sheet I embossed with the Happy birthday folder  and coloured with distress ink salty ocean
Finished off with a strip of ribbon

I'm a little Dutch girl, Dutch girl, Dutch girl.......

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all having a good week...
I suppose being married to a 'a little Dutch boy, must make me a little Dutch girl'...LOL

 Well this week the  colour challenge at The Outlawz is red, white and blue and these colours together with the  inspirational photo was the choice of Laurian, who challenged us to add shine to our creations.

Now this combination of colours immediately made me think 'Dutch" so  here is what I came up with.



Image - 3 Dutch girls - Digistamps4Joy, coloured with Distress inks, cut out and mounted on a die cut.

The twist - add some shine - The centre of the flower is a card candy, covered with glossy accents.

Shaker card

Good evening friends,
I didn't think I would still get a chance to show a card tonight, but here I am. Had a busy day doing a class this morning and then went and had lunch with the family as it was my granddaughter Kellie's birthday.
We have had such very hot weather the last 10 days, with temps soaring to 30 to 32 deg. and no rain. I am just so tired at the end of the day, but it won't last too much longer I am sure, as long as we can get some rain, as the garden is really suffering and we are spraying but it isn't enough.

This card  I made for a class last week and haven't had a chance to post it here yet. I hadn't made a shaker card in ages, but needed samples for class, and making it was fun .

For the background in the shaker box I used a new embossing folder with butterflies and added a little colour with distress inkpads. I used a variety of memory box dies..birds and flowers, butterfly punch and flower punches in the shaker box. The tree is a Marianne die, and the sentiment is from Justrite stampers.

Tuesday is Colour challenge day

Good morning friends,
We are still having such hot weather, that by the afternoon one feels totally drained, but I guess in a few months we will be yearning for warm days.



This week I was the lucky one to choose the colour palette and inspirational photo for the colour challenge at The Oulawz, with the twist to add some metal.

My card this week has an image from Marianne Design, very lightly coloured and cut out with one of the MD dies. Inked all round added some pearls. 2 metal corners that I coloured with inks as they were a very dull pewter colour. The seam binding I also coloured with distress stain and the sentiment is from a local company.

I can see new releases at DS4J

Good morning fellow bloggers,
A beautiful Sunday morning in this part of South Africa, with a fresh breeze, and a forecast of 30 deg, so will enjoy the crisp morning while it lasts.

As usual on Sundays, we have some new releases and the one I have used is 'my new specs'  I think this serves as a reminder to me that I need to get new ones, but I don't think they will look like the ones on the image.

I used distress inks to colour the image, cut it out on an oval an mounted it over a Noor design die that I distrsssed. The corner is also from Noor design. Punched 2 of the corners, added some pearls. The sentiment is a Just right stamp.

Z-fold vintage

Hello friends,
I hope you are enjoying the weekend, crafting or whatever takes your fancy. Today I attended a meeting of a card group that I am a member of. There were some interesting demos and great to chat to members that you only get to see a couple of times a year.
We had to make  a card for a challenge and the theme was.... use punches or dies.

I decided to do an old favourite..the Z-fold card..haven't done one in ages.
The paper is  from a Vintage paperblock of  Joy Crafts and I used a selection of dies from Noor, Joycrafts and Memory box. The border punch is an x-cut.

Romance is in the air... challenge 60 at DS4J

Good morning friends
The card I am showing today is for  challenge 60 at Digistamps4Joy...Romance is in the air.


I have made a pop-out card for a change, haven't made one in ages.

On the front Marianne design dies were used, and inside Nellie Snellen and Noor dies.
The image is Froggie Serenade and is available in the
 SHOP,
coloured with watercolour pencils.
Sentiment is from a freebie in a magazine sometime back.
Papers from The Good Life, Forever Friends. Beads and a button to finish.

New colour challenge at The Outlawz

Hello friends,
Another Tuesday and that means a new  colour challenge at The Outlawz

I chose something without an image to colour, as suddenly my colouring mojo has taken a break. This was what I came up with and I guess I wanted to use my new Memory box die, so this was just right for the twist....add a heart

It does not need a lot of explaining. I used a new Joycraft label for the sentiment, my new Cherish border die from Memory box, ribbon and pearls. It took longer to try and decide what to do than actually making the card.


Here is the colour palette and inspirational photo that was the choice of Guylou this week with the twist ...add a heart. There are lovely cards to be seen made by the DT, and I hope you will come and join us with your special creation.

A very different card

Good evening fellow bloggers,
At the end of last year I joined an  Iris folding folding group. I have done a little in the past and have enjoyed it very much, but needed  some challenging. January was the first challenge and I entered...challenging it certainly was, but I so enjoyed making this card.

I used a sheet from a Kaisercraft paper pad...Le Chateau, and for the iris folding I used a shimmer paper, which I think worked very well, but doesn't show up well on the scanned picture. added gems in the corners.

I will try and find a challenge to enter.

Musician on the hill

Happy Wednesday,
My card to day is a tad late as this was one of the new releases "Musician on the hill" from Digistamps4Joy. If you go HERE you will be able to get the latest images and if you look on the BLOG, you will see the cards that the DT made using some of the new images.

 I used an embossing folder and printed my image under the tree. Coloured and shaded it all with distress inks. Added a sentiment, some music notes and musical ribbon to finish it off. I rather like it not being too fussy.

Today is also the start of the new challenge at Digistamps4Joy...Romance is in the air.    Team A have made some absolutely gorgeous cards for inspiration, so hurry on over and have a look.   We hope you will come and join in this challenge.

Colour challenge with stitching

Good morning friends,
Tuesday has arrived and another colour challenge at The Outlawz. This week we are back to using soft colours with a twist of stitching real or faux. The colour palette was chosen by Margaret, aren't these cushions just so lovely
.
You need to have a look at the wonderful cards made by the DT, they are all so awesome.



For my card I used the image UnderBear from  Doodle Dragon our sponsor for the month of February.
I coloured it with distress inks and added a' flowersoft' bushy tail.Cut it out with an X-cut die. The DP was from my scrap box. The die cut flower for stitiching is from Joycrafts, added a pearl and some card candy.
A computer generated sentiment....and all done!

A little birdie told me.......something starting with B

Hello bloggers,
I have a quickie today all about birds and birdhouses. Beccy at Beccy's Place is having a Birthday Bash ...a whole month of challenges, tutorials, freebies all to celebrate the first anniversary of Beccy's Place. The first of 4 weekly challenges is...Something starting with B.... and this is my card..B for birdhouse.

I used my new embossing folder with birdhouses for the background. Not sure if you can see it too well. I added a bit of colour on the tree and other spots. The image is one of Beccy's...Birhouse, coloured with Distress inks and cut out, mounted with foam tape. Added a few flowers and some little birds cut with my new Memory box die.  The grass is a Marianne design die. The sentiment is computer generated.

Back again with a new release

Masculine happy birthday

Good morning friends,
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful Sunday. We are having a beautiful day with some very high  temps. My granddaughter is taking part in her first high school horse show today, so we will be going to spend some time outdoors watching her jump and do dressage as well.



The card I have today is for a male birthday and I followed the sketch from
Seize the Birthday


I made the card from Kraft paper , and used an embossing folder and a stamp from the Chronology range by Docrafts. Highlighted the design with walnut stain Distress inkpad.  The stamp was a freebie with the  magazine. I think this will be put to great use for masculine cards in the future.
Finished it off with a sentiment attached with brads.

A hearty freebie Friday

Happy Friday morning friends,
Yes can you believe it...here we are at the first Friday of February...WOW. What a year this is going to be if it carries on at this pace...

Today is freebie day at Digistamps4Joy. Here is my creation using 4 of the digis.

The paper is from Making Memories...lovestruck. It is doublesided, so the one side I used for the box and the heart was cut from the back side, with little gems all round.  The little bee I cut out and gave him extra wings with vellum and 2 little bling hearts on his feelers. A real fun project.
